About

20200110_095444

Mel was encouraged to become a fitness instructor in 2000 by her gym buddy who had the foresight to see it would be an excellent career choice. Within a few months of qualifying, Mel had accumulated many studio classes and quickly went onto train as a personal trainer, as well as many other disciplines. As Mel’s portfolio of classes, clients and qualifications continued to grow, she was approached to become a tutor/assessor to train others to become fitness instructors.

Mel absolutely loves teaching. Helping people understand, become more competent as well as confident is her real passion and she feels truly blessed to be able to do this every day.

Mel especially enjoys training clients with disabilities or limitations. She believes that everyone can take part in structured exercise, it just have to be well tailored. She has worked with clients in wheelchairs having received brain injuries, people with Parkinson’s, MS and dementia to mention a few. The majority of Mels current (2024) timetable is taken up with session for “special populations”. She finds this work incredibly rewarding.

Another of Mel’s passions is anything involving water. She definitely was a fish in a previous life. She enjoyed swimming competitively for Surrey as a child and representing Sussex in synchronised swimming.  Today she enjoys swimming and synchro for pleasure, teaching water based exercise and when she took part in Hydropole (pole dancing in water) she thought life couldn’t get much better!!!

As a Pilates Specialist she takes pride in being “very picky” and doing her best to get her participants 100% perfect. She truly believes her classes have the most dedicated class members who are technically excellent. “My class participants continue to leave me stunned. Some of them having only just completed a 6 week beginner programme course are outstanding”

Mel continues to enjoy teaching Pilates for all levels and seeing the improvements it makes to people’s lives. “My job is so rewarding – what’s not to love?!”.
